Country Music Star Wants To Help WWE’s Maxxine Dupri Win Title Back

Ashley Cooke has the itch to get in the ring, and it seems like she has found a potential ally.

Cooke, a country music singer on the rise, spoke with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay about her performance on WWE RAW at Madison Square Garden in November. Cooke sang “God Bless America” to start the show, and she stuck around to watch the event at ringside. She singled out John Cena and Rey Mysterio as two of her favorites on the show, but also took time to praise Maxxine Dupri, who upset Becky Lynch to win the Intercontinental Championship that night.

“Then I also loved Maxxine [Dupri]. Maxxine killed it that day. I think she won her first major title that night, but yeah she was so cool. I loved watching it. But then also afterward, we got to talk a little bit about it all, and she was just so humble and cool,” Cooke shared. “It was cool to see all of it. But I loved that opening segment with the good guys versus the bad guys. That was so cool to watch because they were just running in. John Cena fell into the padded area that we were in and we all were like, ‘What is happening?’ It was so cool.”

Cooke played volleyball and track, as well as participated in gymnastics and equestrian events. She’s not sure how much those sports would help her in the ring, but she says she’d love the chance to get in the ring one day.

“100%, put me in the ring. Let’s go,” Cooke declared. “I could smash a chair over somebody’s head. I could do it.”

Ashley Cooke wants to team up with Maxxine Dupri

Ashley Cooke praised WWE’s women’s roster as being “such badasses.” Cooke called the roster incredible and inspiring, and teased what she might do as a competitor in the squared circle.

“I would love to be a good guy. I mean, I think playing a bad guy would be fun just because it’s so different than what I do normally. But I think I’d want to be a good guy,” she declared. “I’d want to do something having to do with country, whether it’s wearing flannels. Something that’s like a little more in that world. I’d like to be a good guy. I want to fight alongside Maxxine. That’d be really fun.”

Unfortunately, Maxxine Dupri’s Intercontinental Championship reign came to an end after just 49 days. Becky Lynch regained the title on the January 5 episode of WWE Raw on Netflix, “stealing” the win by using the ropes for leverage. Cooke once again expressed her interest in working with Dupri, noting she’d love to help Maxxine get her title back.

“Let’s do it. I’m down,” Cooke said. “She can teach me the ropes and I can help her win it back.”
