Rey Mysterio Provides Update on His WWE Royal Rumble Status

Rey Mysterio confirmed he is headed to Saudi Arabia for Royal Rumble weekend despite recent injury concerns.

The WWE Hall of Famer recently competed against Austin Theory on WWE RAW. During the match, he appeared to injure his knee while delivering a hurricanrana on Austin Theory the outside of the ring.

After the bout, officials helped Mysterio to the back, and WWE largely kept him out of the post-match attack by The Vision as a precaution. While the moment caused concern, later reports stated that the injury was not believed to be serious and that Mysterio was still planned for the Men’s Royal Rumble match.

Mysterio later eased those concerns himself. He shared a photo on Instagram while traveling to Saudi Arabia. In the image, an unmasked Mysterio sat on a plane alongside Penta and Dragon Lee, with all three covering their faces.

Mysterio, Penta, and Dragon Lee have all officially declared for the WWE Royal Rumble and are scheduled to compete this weekend. This year’s men’s Royal Rumble lineup is stacked. Along with Mysterio, confirmed names include Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, Bronson Reed, Austin Theory, Je’Von Evans and Oba Femi.

As of now, Mysterio appears on track to compete, with his travel update suggesting he is ready for Royal Rumble weekend.
