Andrade paid tribue to his ex-wife tonight on AEW Dynamite, in a not-so-subtle reference to Charlotte Flair’s moves.
In a match against Kenny Omega tonight on AEW Dynamite, Andrade went to lock in the Figure 8, a move made somewhat famous by his now ex-wife. Fans were quick to catch onto the move, shouting out Andrade’s reference to Flair.
Andrade and Flair began dating in 2019, before marrying in 2022. The pair divorced in 2024, and despite their status as no longer together, Andrade says the pair remain cordial.
In an interview with the El Ring podcast last month, Andrade said that the pair started having problems, soon divorced. Although some speculated, Andrade said that their divorce had no part in his departure from WWE.
“We started having some problems, and then came the divorce. People ask if she had something to do with my leaving WWE, she didn’t,” said Andrade. “She never went to management to get me fired or anything like that. I respect her a lot. She was an incredible woman, a great wife. I wish her the best … I was the one who failed in the relationship. I can’t talk badly about her. She’s an amazing woman, and I wish her the best, she knows that. And to the fans, stop bothering her, please. It’s none of your business. She had no fault.”
