AEW World Champion MJF is adding Hollywood heat to his resume, recently reflecting on his scene in Happy Gilmore 2 where he “beat the sh*t out of Eminem.”
The film, released July 25, 2025, on Netflix, features Friedman as Gordie, the eldest son of Adam Sandler’s iconic character.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet in Las Vegas, MJF didn’t shy away from the headline-grabbing moment.
“I did beat the sh*t out of Eminem, yeah,” he said, recalling the comedic scene where he tosses the rapper into a lake. However, it wasn’t just the action that stood out — it was the company Eminem kept.
MJF Says Eminem Showed Up to the Set With a Massive Entourage
“Marshall Mathers, he rolls deep. He showed up on that movie set with a big crew, probably 10-15 dudes, and they were all easily as big as Luchasaurus,” MJF revealed.
Despite the imposing presence, Friedman admitted the moment left him star-struck. “Being next to who is arguably the greatest rapper of all time was one of the only times in my life where I was star-struck.”
The AEW star’s path to the role came through an audition process. He initially auditioned for a different character before Sandler personally selected him for the part of Gordie.
MJF praised Sandler’s faith in him. He noted that taking a chance on him in Hollywood mirrored how Cody Rhodes and Tony Khan backed him in wrestling.
While juggling film projects like Violent Night 2 and Stranglehold, MJF remains firmly planted at the top of AEW’s card.
He is set to defend the AEW World Championship against Brody King at Grand Slam Australia on Feb. 14, with Revolution looming on March 15.
From the squared circle to the silver screen, Friedman continues to blur the lines between reel and real. Whether it’s a mic or a movie scene, he rarely misses his mark.
