Former WWE Champion Signs Multi-Fight Deal With Power Slap

A former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has officially signed with Power Slap.

Speaking on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger (Jake Hager in AEW) revealed that he’s signed a multi-fight contract with Power Slap, a slap-fighting promotion owned by UFC CEO Dana White. He will make his debut on April 17 in Las Vegas, a day before WrestleMania 42.

“I’m so excited to announce that I’ve signed with UFC Power Slap and they are doing a show April 17th in Vegas live. That’s the Friday before ‘Mania,” the former WWE star said. “I’ll be competing in that show in the heavyweight division. I’ve been told I have a very slappable face, so I’m sure the line will be around the corner.”

When asked how he prepares for Power Slap, the former WWE and AEW star said, “Yeah, there’s certain exercises. A lot of shoulder techniques, and you definitely want to have your neck strengthened to absorb the blow. Luckily, I don’t have a neck, so it just goes shoulder to head, and hopefully that’s an advantage for me.”

Jack Swagger also explained how Power Slap matches work. “They do have judges, and they score each round. I believe there’s three or five rounds in each competition. So it’s just one person that I will take on. We’ll go five rounds, plus banana hands over here knocks them out.”

The former WWE star signed a six-fight contract with Power Slap

Speaking further, Jack Swagger revealed that he got the opportunity with Power Slap after former WWE star Sinn Bodhi/Kizarny, who’s the Head of Talent Relations of the company, reached out to him last year.

He also shared that he’s signed a six-appearance deal. “I signed a six-appearance contract with them. So, hopefully it’s more than one. Absolutely long-term.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion also addressed the criticism Power Slap has faced regarding fighter safety, saying he understands what he signed up for.

“I mean, you know what you signed up for. You’re signing up to get slapped and trying to slap someone back as hard as you can. So, I expect injuries to happen. I know UFC does a great job of covering all expenses related to the injuries, and I’m not worried about it, to be honest.

When asked if he’s nervous, the former WWE star said, “No, I went into pro MMA without ever having an amateur fight. This is just where you rely on your background. I’ve been fighting all my life, wrestling, pro wrestling, MMA. I’m just gonna lean on that, definitely train train, and step up.
