The fallout from CM Punk and Roman Reigns’ heated confrontation on the March 2 episode of WWE Raw continues to ripple across the wrestling world. Now, Drew McIntyre has weighed in — and he believes the war of words may soon turn into something more physical.
Speaking on Complex Graps, the WWE Champion discussed Punk’s explosive promo aimed at Reigns. The segment quickly went viral after Punk made deeply personal remarks about Reigns during their ongoing WrestleMania 42 rivalry.
Reigns initially said, “You’re not CM Punk, you’re just a punk a*s bitch to me.” Meanwhile, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion later commented, “I’m going to bury you next to your father.”
While Drew McIntyre avoided directly criticizing the line, he suggested that such comments are often part of the psychological battle that defines major feuds in professional wrestling.
“I mean, I can’t make comments about things said on the microphone to try and get into people’s heads,” McIntyre said. “I’ve said the worst things imaginable to people and Punk is trying to get into Roman’s head by saying the worst thing imaginable.”
Drew McIntyre Predicts Physical Fallout in Punk–Reigns Rivalry
According to Drew McIntyre, the situation may not stay confined to words for long. In fact, he believes Roman Reigns could respond the old-fashioned way — with a punch rather than a promo.
“So I imagine Roman is going to come back next week and punch Punk in the face,” McIntyre said. “I think that’s what they need — not to talk each other to death, but to start throwing some bombs.”
McIntyre admitted it “kills” him to praise either man, but he acknowledged both Punk and Reigns are elite performers when tensions rise.
“It kills me to say it, but I know how good Punk and Roman is. So when they start throwing bombs, it’s going to be interesting.”
The Scottish star also noted that Reigns has a history of escalating conflicts when matters become personal. McIntyre referenced his own past rivalry with Reigns, saying he experienced firsthand how intense things can become.
“If he wants to get personal, I know what Roman can do when it gets personal,” McIntyre added. “He made my life hell for years.”
For now, McIntyre says he’ll watch the situation unfold from a distance — though he admits curiosity about what happens next.
