A strange moment unfolded on the March 9 episode of WWE RAW when a scheduled Intercontinental Championship match took an unexpected turn after Danhausen appeared to place another one of his infamous curses.
The situation developed shortly after new Intercontinental Champion Penta made his way to the ring to address the crowd.
While the champion spoke about sacrifice, perseverance, and representing fans around the world, attention soon shifted to the challenger, who was expected to face him.
However, the wrestler originally scheduled for the bout never appeared — and that absence quickly became the talk of the segment.
El Grande Americano Absent After Danhausen Cursed Him
Earlier in the broadcast, Danhausen crossed paths backstage with El Grande Americano Original as the masked star was heading toward the ring. The interaction quickly turned tense.
Danhausen suggested the two could share a mask and “make double the money,” but Americano wasn’t amused. The luchador warned him not to touch a mask and told him to “vamanos,” prompting Danhausen to place a curse on him before disappearing.
When it came time for the championship match, the situation took a bizarre twist. Instead of the originally advertised competitor, a different version — El Grande Americano Nuevo — made his way to the ring.
Penta questioned the situation and argued with referee Eddie Orengo about the wrong opponent appearing. Still, the match went ahead as scheduled.
Inside the ring, the substitute Americano delivered a competitive performance, trading counters and near falls with the champion. Despite the chaos surrounding the bout, Penta ultimately retained the Intercontinental Championship with a springboard flip piledriver.
The odd situation adds another chapter to Danhausen’s growing reputation on RAW. Since debuting at Elimination Chamber on February 28, his “curse” has already made headlines.
On the March 2 episode of RAW, Danhausen cursed Dominik Mysterio after a backstage confrontation. Later that night, Mysterio lost the Intercontinental Championship to Penta — a coincidence some members of The Judgment Day blamed on the curse.
Whether coincidence or supernatural mischief, Danhausen’s antics continue to leave WWE’s roster wondering who might be cursed next.
