Brock Lesnar may have said goodbye to WWE at WrestleMania 42. The reaction started coming in right after that moment. One of the first responses came from WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle.
Lesnar faced Oba Femi and the match itself was short and one-sided. Femi stayed in control for most of it. He finished Lesnar with a Fall From Grace to secure the win. The result was clear, but the focus quickly shifted after.
Lesnar remained in the ring following the loss. He removed his gloves and then took off his boots. He left them in the ring. That action is often linked with retirement in wrestling. It stood out immediately.
Paul Heyman then came out to the ring. The two shared a quiet embrace. No words were spoken in that moment. They then walked backstage together.
Kurt Angle reacts to Brock Lesnar after WrestleMania 42 retirement
WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle shared a message on X, formerly known as Twitter. He addressed Lesnar directly and kept it simple. The message showed respect, writing, “Love you my brother. There will only be one like you. Enjoy retirement Brock.”
Angle also shared a photo from their WrestleMania 19 match in 2003. That match remains one of their most notable encounters. Lesnar defeated Angle that night to win the WWE Championship. At the same time, more details surfaced about the situation. Many within WWE had expected Lesnar to retire later in the year and not at WrestleMania 42.
The expected timing was SummerSlam. The event is set to take place in his home state. That had been the internal plan. If WrestleMania 42 ends up being his final match, then the timing changed. The moment came earlier than expected.
