Jacob Fatu Issues Backlash Title Challenge to Roman Reigns on WWE RAW

The post-WrestleMania 42 episode of WWE RAW teased a future rivalry as Jacob Fatu stepped up to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns. It looks like a marquee match could play out at Backlash.

As expected, Reigns closed the episode. He came out with Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso. The Bloodline is finally back together.

Reigns spoke about “family business” and admitted he missed the bond he once had with The Usos. Even though he still acted like the Tribal Chief, he said he didn’t want The Usos to serve him; he wanted his family by his side again. Jimmy backed him up and called him their Tribal Chief, and the three did their signature “Ones up” gesture together in the ring.

But then, Jacob Fatu came out and changed the direction of the segment, demanding everything the Tribal Chief has.

Roman Reigns delays decision until next week

Even after his big win over Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania, Fatu was in no mood for celebration. He didn’t show any respect to Reigns and got straight to the point.

Fatu said that he wasn’t there to “acknowledge” Reigns. He then went on to say that he doesn’t “want” the World Heavyweight Title; he “needs” that.

Fatu said that he wants everything Roman Reigns has. That includes the Championship status and the lifestyle that comes with it. He made it clear he is doing all this for his family, and he won’t stop at any cost.

Fatu then challenged Reigns for the title at Backlash. It was a bold move, but after his recent performances, it didn’t feel impossible. But the OTC didn’t say yes right away.

Instead, he questioned whether Fatu could handle the “burden” of being the champion if he won the title. He then asked if Fatu could handle the “burden” of acknowledging Reigns if he fails to earn the title.

Reigns then called Fatu “little cousin” and said he would take a week to think about it before giving an answer on the next RAW. As he was leaving the ring, Reigns even told The Usos to “talk some sense” into Fatu.

Now, with The Bloodline back and Fatu standing on his own, a match with ramifications over legacy and family could be happening at Backlash.
