The Miz is not just focused on mentoring young wrestlers with his three core values these days; he is also looking to shine a long-overdue spotlight on his wife, Maryse. In a recent interview, Miz defended Maryse’s legacy. He also teased a possible return of their popular reality TV series, Miz & Mrs.
The show is a spin-off of Total Divas that shows Miz and Maryse’s personal lives, parenthood, family drama, and their careers in WWE. It became popular for being fun, chaotic, and relatable. The couple even earned the nickname “WWE’s It Couple.” The show lasted three seasons with 50 episodes.
The Miz says Miz & Mrs could make a comeback
In a recent interview with Complex, Miz said Maryse doesn’t always get the respect she deserves. Even though she had just over 100 matches in WWE, she is still one of the most memorable female stars from her time.
He explained that during her run, women in WWE often got very little screen time, sometimes just a minute. Even with those limits, Maryse managed to build a strong character and connect with the crowd.
He also said Maryse played a big role in making Miz & Mrs. a success.
“Moving on to Miz and Mrs and the Intercontinental title run that we had, like man. She was the reason Miz and Mrs came about and the success of Miz and Mrs. And that, by the way, I feel like this is a great time to bring it back. Like, Maryse and I have been talking about it here and there, we just had a meeting over at CAA with our entire team. We’re all talking about it and literally our agents were sitting there and they go, ‘You know what, this is the magic right here.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ We were just bouncing off one another in a room and literally the entire room was just laughing the entire time about the stories we create. They’re like, ‘This is the magic, we need to bring Miz and Mrs back.’ We’re like, ‘We know. We know.’ So, it could happen, we don’t know with the landscape of television and where it is,” Miz said.
The show ran on USA Network from 2018 to 2022. Now, Miz feels the timing might be right to bring it back.
While nothing has become official yet, Miz believes the same energy that made the show popular is still there. With streaming platforms and new trends, they need the right platform and format.
