Paul Heyman says he legitimately had no idea that Brock Lesnar was going to retire at WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
TMZ recently caught up with Heyman, who was in Brock Lesnar’s corner for his match against Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42. Lesnar lost the match, but went on to shock the crowd when he placed his gloves and boots in the center of the ring, effectively announcing his retirement.
Heyman says he had no idea Lesnar was going to retire, pointing out that he never would have boasted about his continued dominance if he did.
“No. [I didn’t know.] If I knew he was gonna retire, would I have gone on record saying he was gonna dominate for the next 15 years? Why is Harvey [Levin, TMZ owner] asking these stupid questions?” Heyman joked.
Paul Heyman says he’s not that convincing of an actor to fake Lesnar’s retirement
Heyman continued, sharing that he’s not someone who can convincingly cry on command.
“I was crying,” Heyman added. “Am I that good of an actor that I can cry on cue?? Not I. Not I.”
Heyman said that the interviewer should ask what they said to each other in the ring. This was a ruse, however, as he pulled the rug and said it was none of their business. As for what’s next, Heyman has a clear Vision.
“Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, Bronson Reed, Austin Theory — The Vision taking over WWE.”
