AEW Dynamite Results
RUSH cuts an intense promo ahead of his AEW World Championship showdown with MJF on Dynamite. Friedman interrupts and slaps the challenger, sparking a chaotic pull-apart brawl.
Excalibur runs down the lineup for tonight’s Dynamite. Renee Paquette is standing by with RUSH. Paquette reveals that the AEW World Championship match between MJF and RUSH is now No Count Outs. Andrade El Idolo then appears and fires up RUSH ahead of his opening contest against the AEW World Champion.
MJF (c) vs. RUSH – AEW World Championship
MJF immediately begins playing mind games, making his entrance dressed as a matador. Friedman instructs Justin Roberts to tweak his introduction by taking a shot at the Virginia crowd, referencing his win over Hangman Adam Page at AEW Revolution. He also has Roberts tell the audience that they “put the virgin in Virginia.”
RUSH gets busted open when MJF capitalizes on a distraction and shoves him into the exposed turnbuckle.
A straight jacket piledriver on the apron!
Ringside physician sells RUSH’s headbutt.
MJF with a jumping piledrive on a broken piece of barricade!
- In the finish, RUSH passed out to MJF’s crossface submission, leading the referee to call for the bell.
Winner and still AEW World Champion: MJF
After the match, MJF grabs the AEW World Championship belt and attempts to take out RUSH, but Mark Briscoe arrives to make the save. Briscoe sets MJF up for a Jay Driller, but Friedman counters with a kick to the groin. The rest of The Conglomeration then rushes to the ring before MJF can continue his assault. The AEW World Champion retreats as we move on to the second match of the night.
Grade: A-
An incredible contest to kick off AEW Dynamite. RUSH was, if I recall correctly, MJF’s return opponent on a previous episode of Dynamite. The two piledriver spots looked brutal. Hopefully, Tony Khan has big plans for RUSH, as the way he was protected in the finish suggests something more is coming.
Mark Briscoe vs. Lio Rush
Lio Rush definitely has an interesting entrance.
- The finish of the match saw Mark Briscoe plant Lio Rush with a Cut-Throat Driver for the win.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Briscoe grabs a microphone and tells the camera operator to come closer as he has a message for MJF. He recalls losing his brother Jay on January 17, 2023, and making his AEW Dynamite debut just a week later. Mark says he rediscovered joy of being a professional wrestler after joining The Conglomeration. He then refocuses his attention on MJF, saying there is no one he despises more than Friedman.
Briscoe adds that Friedman has something he wants, and that is the AEW World Championship. He calls out Maxwell to give him a title shot, noting that Friedman put him in a very dark place, which is fitting since he calls himself “The Devil.” He then points to a tattoo on his right torso that reads “Child of God.” Briscoe says he doesn’t know if MJF has read the holy text, but the devil always loses in the end.
Briscoe caps off his promo by calling MJF a “moist-ass bitch.”
Grade: B+
A fun match between Briscoe and Lio Rush, whose new character is fascinating to say the least. Lio has always excelled in the ring, but this may be the first time in years he’s truly telling a story through his character work. However, the post-match promo dragged on for far too long.
We hear from The Triangle of Madness
The Triangle of Madness appears from the crowd. Thekla has some harsh words for STARDOM, recalling her stint in the promotion where she was known as the Idol Killer.
The AEW Women’s World Champion says Skye Blue will win the Women’s Owen while Julia Hart has to reclaim the TBS title. She then climbs to the top of a ladder, spits on the STARDOM logo on the Forbidden Door graphic, and shows the middle finger as Excalibur apologizes to STARDOM for the disrespect.
Will Ospreay & Death Riders
Jon Moxley delivers a pep talk to Will Ospreay as he prepares to face his former tag team partner Mark Davis in the Owen Men’s semifinal in the main event of AEW Dynamite.
‘How you know?’
Andrade has the mic after squashing a jobber on AEW Dynamite. El Idolo brings up MJF and the AEW World Championship, acknowledging Friedman’s victory over RUSH earlier tonight. Andrade questions whether MJF can beat a real Latino man like him.
Don Callis interrupts and walks to the ring with Jake Doyle. The crowd chants “F*** Don Callis.” Callis congratulates Andrade on his victory before introducing Kevin Knight as the newest member of The Don Callis Family.
Kevin Knight (c) vs. Mike Bailey – AEW TNT Championship
- The finish of the match saw Kevin Knight hit Mike Bailey with a modified falling side slam for the win.
Winner and still AEW TNT Champion: Kevin Knight
Kevin Knight brags about his win over his former tag team partner before calling out MJF for a shot at the AEW World Championship.
Grade: A+
Another brilliant outing featuring Kevin Knight and Mike Bailey. I must say I didn’t expect Knight to answer Don Callis’ call just one week after turning against Speedball. That being said, Callis’ managerial skills will likely propel “The Jet” to the next level. As for Bailey, he has one of the best offensive arsenals on the AEW roster.
Who let the dogs out?
David Finlay and Clark Connors are bragging about taking out Cope and Cage last week on AEW Dynamite. They brought their own kazoos to celebrate. The Young Bucks interrupt and question who let the dogs out. They call David Finlay the worst leader in Bullet Club history and refer to Clark Connors as “Temu Hangman Adam Page.”
The Bucks question The Dogs’ desire for a tag team title shot, pointing out that they clearly lost in the Stadium Stampede match at AEW Double or Nothing. The Young Bucks are ready to fight The Dogs tonight, but Finlay and Connors say they will wrestle on their own terms at a time of their choosing.
MJF responds to Mark Briscoe’s challenge
Renee Paquette asks MJF for his comments on Mark Briscoe’s challenge. Friedman says that’s what you expect when you’re the champion, with everybody wanting a shot at the world title. He calls the AEW World Championship the most prestigious title in the sport before responding to Mark Briscoe’s call. MJF denies Briscoe a shot at the AEW World Title.
Alex Windsor vs. Wild Card – Owen Women’s Quarterfinal
Mercedes Moné is the wild card entrant in the Owen Women’s quarterfinal against Alex Windsor. Tonight marks her first AEW match since dropping the TBS Title to Willow Nightingale on AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash in December 2025.
- The finish of the match saw Alex Windsor tap out to Mercedes Moné’s Statement Maker submission maneuver.
Winner: Mercedes Moné
Grade: A-
Alex Windsor was the right opponent for Mercedes Moné’s AEW Dynamite return match. The CEO showed no signs of ring rust. I think they are setting up Persephone vs. Moné II, which honestly I wouldn’t mind given their storied history.
We hear from Don Callis and Kazuchika Okada
Renee Paquette is standing by with Don Callis and Kazuchika Okada. Callis brags about adding Kevin Knight to his family and says they will make Knight the greatest TNT Champion. He then sounds confident in Mark Davis’ chances of beating Ospreay later tonight on Dynamite. He adds that nobody can stop The Don Callis Family from bringing home the AEW World Title at All In: London. He calls Okada the greatest bell-to-bell wrestler he has ever seen. The Rainmaker then calls out Konosuke Takeshita, teasing a rematch for the International Title.
Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis – Owen Men’s Tournament Semifinal
The finish of the match saw Will Ospreay force Mark Davis to submit to an armbar for the win.
Winner: Will Ospreay
Grade: A+
This match had me on the edge of my seat, especially in the closing minutes, where mayhem broke out between The Don Callis Family and The Death Riders.
I thought Davis had the win with the final piledriver of the match, but thank God Ospreay kicked out. Speaking of Davis, he might be the most underrated member of the AEW roster. A great match to cap off an amazing Wednesday Night Dynamite.
Overall Grade: A+
What a fun night this has been. From the brutal MJF vs. RUSH clash to the incredible Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis main event, this episode delivered the right mix of action and excitement. Almost every match on the card delivered at a high level. Mercedes Moné and Alex Windsor gelled well in their Owen Women’s quarterfinal bout. I’m especially excited for next week’s AEW Dynamite on the road to AEW Forbidden Door. That’s it for tonight, and I’ll be back with more coverage next week.
