The first-ever Mr. NXT Pageant crowned a winner on the June 9 episode of WWE NXT, but the celebration didn’t last long. What began as a lighthearted competition between Shiloh Hill and Tristan Angels quickly turned into one of the night’s most personal confrontations.
The pageant served as the latest chapter in a rivalry that had been building for weeks.
After repeatedly promoting himself as the rightful “Mr. NXT,” Hill found himself challenged by Angels, a former Mr. England finalist who believed the title belonged to him.

The contest featured a panel of judges consisting of EVOLVE Men’s Champion Aaron Rourke, SmackDown star Kit Wilson, and comedian Matt Mathews. Competitors were evaluated through several categories, including attire, special talent, public speaking, and a fan vote.
Angels gained early momentum by winning the attire portion of the contest. However, Hill rallied in the later rounds and connected with both the judges and the audience.
During the public speaking segment, Angels confidently declared himself the most handsome man in England and urged fans not to vote for Hill. Hill took a different approach, speaking about embracing the unpredictable nature of NXT and adapting to whatever comes next.
When the judges delivered their verdicts, Mathews voted for Hill, while Wilson backed Angels despite calling him “toxic.” Aaron Rourke then left the final decision in the hands of the fans. The live crowd overwhelmingly supported Hill, and the official fan vote also went his way.
That result proved too much for Angels to accept.
As Hill prepared to celebrate his victory and put on the Mr. NXT sash, Angels blindsided him with a cane strike across the back. He then repeatedly attacked Hill with a steel chair before driving him face-first onto it with a knee strike. The defeated challenger ended the segment standing over Hill while holding the Mr. NXT sash.
Hill may have won the crown, but by the end of the night, Angels made sure the pageant ended on a sour note. With tensions now higher than ever, this rivalry appears far from settled.
