CM Punk’s Next TV Appearance Confirmed Amid WWE Absence

CM Punk may still be absent from WWE television, but fans won’t have to wait much longer to see him back on screen in a different role.

While speculation continues regarding Punk’s WWE return, the former world champion now has a confirmed appearance lined up for later this month.

The announcement comes as questions continue to swirl about when the Second City Saint will resurface on WWE programming.

CM Punk set for return to CFFC commentary team

Cage Fury Fighting Championships has confirmed that Punk will return to its broadcast team for CFFC 156 on Friday, June 26.

The event will take place at Hard Rock Casino Rockford in Illinois, just outside his hometown of Chicago.

The promotion announced Punk’s comeback with a social media (IG) post that read: “@cmpunk makes long awaited return to MMA on Friday, June 26 in Illinois!”

CM Punk has served as a color commentator for CFFC since 2018. His tenure with the promotion has spanned several chapters of his career, including his time away from professional wrestling, his run in AEW, and his eventual return to WWE in 2023.

For the upcoming event, Punk will once again join CFFC General Manager and veteran MMA journalist John Morgan on commentary. The show will also feature the promotional debut of longtime combat sports announcer Michael C. Williams.

The appearance marks Punk’s first CFFC broadcast assignment of 2026. Although his MMA commentary work has become less frequent since returning to WWE, the promotion’s debut event in his home state appears to have drawn him back behind the microphone.

Meanwhile, speculation surrounding Punk’s WWE future continues. Reports suggest WWE is considering bringing him back on SmackDown, though no official return date has been announced by the company. Those reports remain unconfirmed.

For now, Punk’s next confirmed television appearance won’t take place inside a WWE ring. Instead, he’ll be calling the action from cageside, proving that while he may be off WWE TV, he hasn’t tapped out of the spotlight just yet.
