WWE To Recruit New Talent At Hawaii Fit Expo

WWE’s search for its next generation of Superstars is taking another stop this weekend, but this time the company won’t be scouting from the background of a wrestling ring.

Instead, its talent scouts will be meeting prospective recruits at the seventh annual Hawaii Fit Expo, where aspiring performers could get their first taste of a WWE opportunity.

The recruitment effort highlights WWE’s continued push to cast a wider net for talent, looking beyond traditional wrestling backgrounds.

For hopefuls in attendance, this could be the first step toward earning a shot at sports entertainment’s biggest stage.

The Hawaii Fit Expo, regarded as the state’s premier fitness, sport, and healthy lifestyle event, takes place June 27 and 28 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

WWE will operate a recruitment booth throughout the two-day event, giving attendees the chance to learn more about career opportunities within the company.

According to longtime wrestling reporter and author Marc Raimondi of ESPN, WWE’s recruiting strategy has changed dramatically over the years.

“I think it has changed a great deal,” Raimondi said. “Back in the ’80s, it was bodybuilders and bouncers. Now they want college football players. There are a lot of gymnasts, volleyball players, and the list goes on and on.”

However, Raimondi believes athletic ability alone isn’t enough to earn a contract. He explained that standing out as a personality is just as important.

“I think people should keep an open mind because WWE is like a variety show,” he said. “If you can stand out in a way that makes you relatable or makes audiences want to buy a ticket or tune in to watch you, that’s a huge advantage.”

The expo itself features strongman, arm wrestling, powerlifting, fitness showcases, and exhibitors from the wellness and nutrition industries, making it a natural place for WWE to scout fresh talent. You could say WWE is looking for the next breakout star before they even make their entrance.

The Hawaii recruitment drive also fits into WWE’s broader talent pipeline, which includes its NIL and ID programs, along with upcoming invitation-only tryouts during SummerSlam week in Minneapolis and another scheduled tryout in South America later this September.
