AJ Lee Never Expected To Return To WWE Because Of One Fear

AJ Lee explains why she never expected to return to WWE.

During her appearance on the Nikki and Brie Show at Fanatics Fest alongside Paige, AJ Lee shared that she didn’t expect to return to WWE because her career felt fulfilled. She explained that since she felt like it ended on such a perfect note, she was afraid of tarnishing that closure.

However, after seeing how the company evolved over the years, AJ Lee, who wanted the best for the next generation of WWE Superstars, was happy to experience it herself when she returned last year.

AJ Lee thought she didn’t have anything left to do in WWE

“Did I ever think I was going to come back? Oh, no,” AJ Lee said. “I think I wrapped stuff up in such a perfect bow; it just felt like I didn’t want to tarnish that, and it felt so complete. I didn’t feel like I had anything left to do, and then seeing how the business evolved, I saw it like when you’re a senior in high school, and you graduate, you’re like, ‘I hope those freshmen have better teachers or they get a field in the school.’

“You don’t expect it for you, so it was just an extra wonderful surprise and a treat to be like, ‘Oh, I get to hang out with this new class.’ That’s awesome,” Lee said.

After having a 49-day run with the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship, AJ Lee lost the title to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 42. She went on hiatus after the event, and reports indicated there’s no specific timeline for her return. However, she’s set to appear on the third season of the Netflix docuseries WWE: Unreal, which is set for release on Tuesday.
