AEW President Tony Khan has confirmed that the company is monitoring the growing free agent market following a recent wave of wrestler releases.
While Khan stopped short of naming any specific talent, he acknowledged that several accomplished performers are now available.
His comments came during the AEW Redemption media call. Khan gave the answer when he was asked directly about the promotion’s interest in newly available free agents.

Speaking to the media ahead of AEW Redemption, Khan admitted that the current landscape has created more opportunities than usual for talent acquisition.
“There are a lot of great free agents in wrestling. Particularly right now, there’s a lot of people coming out of contract.”
He also referenced the recent releases that have added more names to the market.
“It’s no secret that a lot of very talented wrestlers were released recently from their contracts and it has put more people on the market… It’s something that I am keeping an eye on because I’m very cognizant that there’s a lot of really talented people that just got fired or cut or released.”
Although Khan confirmed AEW is paying close attention to the available talent pool, he did not reveal whether the company has held talks with any wrestlers or if signings are already in the works.
“It’s certainly a very interesting time in pro wrestling and an exciting time for AEW.”
Khan’s comments arrive just as several former WWE stars have officially become free agents. Several prominent stars’ contracts expired following the company’s spring releases. Unsurprisingly, fans have already begun speculating about where those wrestlers could land next.
Among the names linked to AEW by fans are the Motor City Machine Guns, with speculation increasing ahead of the company’s upcoming television tapings in Detroit. Kairi Sane has come up as a potential addition to the AEW roster. Recent online interactions involving Austin Creed and Kenny Omega have fueled further discussion about Creed and Kofi Kingston’s futures.
For now, however, those names remain the subject of fan speculation rather than official announcements. Khan has made one thing clear — AEW is watching the market closely. In wrestling, today’s free agent can quickly become tomorrow’s surprise entrance.
