Ric Flair has made an unexpected change away from the wrestling world, officially trading one NBA fanbase for another after LeBron James’ stunning free-agency decision.
The WWE Hall of Famer wasted little time revealing where his basketball loyalty now lies, adding another chapter to his long-standing friendship with “The King.”
Flair’s announcement came shortly after James confirmed his blockbuster move to the Philadelphia 76ers, a decision that has already sent shockwaves through the sports landscape.

For years, Flair was one of the Los Angeles Lakers’ most recognizable celebrity supporters. Their connection reached a memorable moment in 2020 when “The Nature Boy” introduced James before a sold-out crowd at Staples Center, while the two have continued to publicly praise one another over the past decade.
After James agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal with Philadelphia, Flair declared that he was making the jump as well.
On X, Flair wrote:
“I Have Just Officially Become A Philadelphia 76ers Fan… The Home Of One Of My Closest Friends, Sir Charles Barkley… Also My Running Mate @alleniverson, And Now @KingJames! WOOOOO!”
The relationship between the two stars stretches back to James’ early NBA career. In 2012, the future Hall of Famer described Flair as one of the “Inventor[s] of Swag,” crediting the wrestling icon’s confidence, style, and larger-than-life personality as an influence. Flair has also repeatedly defended James against critics, frequently referring to him as the NBA’s GOAT.
James’ move to Philadelphia marks the latest milestone in his legendary career. The four-time NBA champion accepted a significant pay cut by signing a two-year, $8 million contract, joining Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown in pursuit of a fifth championship. James also described the decision as his “last decision” after choosing to continue into his 24th NBA season.
Whether it’s inside the squared circle or courtside at an NBA arena, Flair has never been afraid to change partners when the music changes. This time, the “Wooooo!” appears headed for Philadelphia alongside LeBron James.
