We previously reported the Ohio Valley Wrestling promotion was up for sale after being owned by Danny Davis for 22 years.
Although unconfirmed, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that the whole thing read like it could be setting up a larger angle. Davis announced he sold the company to a private investor, and their “mysterious” identity would be revealed at the next TV tapings scheduled for next week.
Davis said: “I have been searching for the perfect person to carry on OVW’s legacy and I believe I’ve found them.” He also added,
“I want to thank the guys and girls who allowed me to play a part in their careers and the OVW fans for their unwavering dedication. I’ve been mulling this decision for several weeks and the time is right for my family to begin a new chapter.”
Ohio Valley Wrestling was the primary developmental facility for WWE between 2000 and 2008, producing stars like John Cena, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Dave Bautista, Shelton Benjamin, Nick ‘Eugene’ Dinsmore and many, many more under Davis.
