Lucha Bros Set To Reunite At Upcoming AAA Event — Report

The Lucha Bros may not have reunited in WWE, but that could all change at an upcoming Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide event.

WWE acquired AAA in April through a partnership with Mexico-based sports and entertainment holding company Fillip. In June, the two promotions co-produced Worlds Collide, which featured El Hijo del Vikingo versus Chad Gable for the AAA Mega Championship in the main event.

WWE and AAA are once again collaborating on a show. The next event in this partnership will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico, on December 20. NXT is already promoting Ethan Page versus El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. for the event. Page previously defeated Wagner Jr. in their Day of the Dead match for the North American Championship at NXT Halloween Havoc 2025.

WWE is teasing Lucha Bros reunion via Penta’s Instagram

According to Luchablog, WWE is seemingly having a hard time filling the arena for their Guadalajara show in December. The report suggests the company is teasing a Lucha Bros reunion in Mexico through cryptic messages on Penta’s Instagram.

“The 12/20 Guadalajara show will need to draw in fly-in fans from all over Mexico. They’re going to have a hard time filling that building with locals alone. That may be the reason that Page/Wagner match is announced a lot earlier than AAA is announcing matches nowadays. It is undoubtedly a reason why Rey Mysterio Jr. is on that card.

“It’s also why Penta’s Instagram had a mystery message with coordinates and a day count. Translated, it means he and Fenix are teaming up for the first time since they both came to WWE on 12/20 in Guadalajara. That’ll be a big deal, and it’ll help people understand this is meant to be a big deal show. I know that when Mexican WWE fans ask for a WWE PLE, they’re really asking for Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns and CM Punk, and I don’t think they’re getting those level guys on 12/20. I do think WWE will push hard to make it feel as important as a WWE PLE to sell those tickets.”

The Lucha Bros haven’t competed as a tag team since 2024, when Penta and Rey Fenix defeated Private Party on AEW Rampage. Penta established himself as a singles star in WWE following his in-ring debut against Chad Gable in January 2025. As for Fenix, he returned to solo competition after a short-lived tag team run with Andrade on SmackDown.
