An update on WWE’s creative plans for Rey Fenix has surfaced following Andrade’s exit.
If you haven’t caught up with the Andrade situation, here’s a quick recap: the former WWE United States Champion was reportedly released from his contract due to disciplinary issues. Andrade later confirmed his unceremonious departure in a brief social media post.
Fenix and Andrade had been paired up prior to the latter’s release, with reports suggesting the duo were being primed for a WWE Tag Team Championship run. With Andrade gone, fans have been curious about what lies ahead for Rey Fenix creatively.
According to a new report from Bodyslam (via Patreon), WWE is currently reshuffling immediate creative plans for Fenix. One option reportedly under discussion is reuniting The Lucha Brothers (Fenix and Penta).
“Rey Fénix’s immediate creative plans are now currently being reshuffled due to Andrade’s departure from WWE,” according to the report. “The idea of reuniting Fénix and Pénta – The Lucha Brothers has been discussed, but nothing is confirmed or imminent as of right now.”
Road Dogg suggests big things for Rey Fenix
Rey Fenix had his first singles match on WWE SmackDown in months when he faced Sami Zayn last Friday on the blue brand. Despite putting up a strong fight, Fenix was unable to defeat Zayn for the United States Championship.
Following the match, Fenix took to X/Twitter to reflect on the bout and hype himself up, noting that he would become a champion in WWE soon. His post drew a response from WWE SmackDown co-lead writer “Road Dogg” Brian James, who teased big things ahead for the lucha star.
