WWE’s Cody Rhodes Can’t Hide Laugh As Street Fighter Cast Trolls Mortal Kombat Movie

The Street Fighter movie had a big presence at The Game Awards on Thursday night. Mortal Kombat, not so much.

The world got a first look at the upcoming Street Fighter movie. The cast includes WWE stars Cody Rhodes as Guile and Roman Reigns as Akuma. During the big reveal, comedian Andrew Schulz, who plays Dan Hibiki in the movie, took a shot at Mortal Kombat 2, which has seen its release delayed from October 2025 until May 2026.

“We are so grateful [to you fans]. And we’re not the only game that appreciates your patronage. There’s another game out there; they flew from around the world to be here because they appreciate you, so give it up for the cast of Mortal Kombat 2,” Schulz said.

“I’m just kidding, I’m just kidding. They don’t care about you; they only care about money,” Schulz quipped. “We care about money, and you! Street Fighter forever!”

The last line got a laugh from the crowd, and Rhodes clearly found it funny too, as he put his hand over his eyes to try and hide his laugh.

The Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter franchises are two of the biggest fighting video game franchises of all time. Fans have debated which one is better for years, and while Schulz’s remark was intended to be funny, it will undoubtedly stoke the flames of the fire once again.

Schulz may be seen more on WWE TV, as a recent report suggested that the controversial comedian made a strong impression on many in WWE and might be featured more often.

Street Fighter is in theatres on October 16, 2026.
