ESPN has edited a major part of CM Punk’s WWE WrestleMania 42 presentation.
The Straight Edge Superstar had a special entrance for his second WrestleMania main event. For his WrestleMania 42 entrance, Punk brought back AFI’s “Miseria Cantare.” He previously used the song on the independent circuit and once in All Elite Wrestling.
However, ESPN has seemingly edited the music portion of the entrance and replaced it with stock music. The network also piped in artificial crowd noise. The remaining portion of the entrance, which features “Cult of Personality,” remains intact.
ESPN is the exclusive carrier of WWE premium live events in the U.S. This means CM Punk’s edited WrestleMania 42 entrance is only altered for U.S. viewers, while international fans can still watch the original version on Netflix.
“Miseria Cantare” was not the only unique aspect of CM Punk’s WrestleMania Sunday entrance. The Voice of the Voiceless wore a custom jacket that referenced AJ Lee, their late dog Larry, and more.
Punk put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Roman Reigns. The two men tore the house down, and after more than 30 minutes of action, the OTC defeated his opponent to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
