Zelina Vega Hopes The Stars Align For A Match At WWE Backlash

Zelina Vega wants the chance to compete at WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico.

WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard recently spoke with Zelina Vega about the potential of being part of WWE Backlash next month. Backlash marks the first televised WWE event in Puerto Rico since the New Year’s Revolution pay-per-view took place in January 2005. The event also holds special meaning to Vega, who is of Puerto Rican descent.

Zelina Vega says being able to compete in Puerto Rico would mean a lot to her, noting that she already has a match in mind.

“I feel like that would be everything for me because not only would I be doing this as — and perfect scenario, honestly, because I always say that Rhea is my perfect opposite. She has a match against Charlotte. If [Rhea] comes out as champion, that’s where I want to be. Because I would have my David versus Goliath match in my home,” Vega explained. “I mean, really, I’d have my family there. I would have the support of everybody that’s supported me throughout the years. And it just feels like a perfect scenario, you know?

“So, what would it mean? It makes me speechless because I don’t know how to describe how much it would mean to me,” Vega added. “There are no words for me to describe how much it would mean to me. But, I’m hoping that if the stars align the right way, that I get to have that match that I’ve been wanting so bad.”

Zelina Vega said she is a big believer in vision boards and wishing things into fruition. She’s already putting the Backlash match out there just as she did with her role in Street Fighter 6.

“Well, to be honest, I have [put it out in the universe]. And not only have I done it with that, but also with Street Fighter and other things,” Zelina Vega said. So, I’m a very, very big believer in vision boards and stuff like that because I’ve done it with those things and they’ve come true. So, I’m hoping this will be along those lines as well.”

WWE Backlash will take place on Saturday, May 6 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
