Bill Apter: Triple H’s Comments At SummerSlam Were Not Disrespectful

Bill Apter clears the air regarding the question he posed to Triple H during the SummerSlam 2023 post-show press conference.

Legendary pro wrestling journalist Bill Apter was part of the WWE SummerSlam post-show press conference on behalf of Sportskeeda Wrestlebinge. During the conference, Bill asked Triple H why WWE United States Champion Austin Theory was in the Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal. Triple H initially sarcastically answered that Theory was in the match in an attempt to win the match.

On his personal YouTube channel, Bill Apter cleared the air about whether or not he felt disrespected at that moment. Apter says he was not at all bothered by Triple H’s comments, noting that it’s part of their friendly rapport.

“Now, a lot of people are upset. I never saw this as anything disrespectful,” Bill began. “Triple H and I respect each other greatly. I asked a question at the press conference. I asked why the heck was the US Champion, Austin Theory in a Battle Royal, and he came back with what I thought was a sarcastically funny answer, ‘To win a battle royal,’ you know, ‘To go in there and throw people over the top and win’. A lot of people thought he disrespected me, but that’s kind of like a — I’ll call it a sarcastic relationship answer that I’ve had with him through the years.

Two Vets

“Two veteran wrestling guys talking to each other, so to say so, I wasn’t offended at all,” Apter continued. “For those of you who thought he disrespected me, I can assure you that he absolutely did not, and he went on to explain that there was so much talent to us on that show that they put him in the Battle Royal.”

The Battle Royal itself was won by fan favorite LA Knight.

Austin Theory will defend his title on the August 11 episode of SmackDown when he wrestles Santos Escobar.
