Roderick Strong Believes Kyle O’Reilly Will Be Back In AEW Sooner Than Later

Roderick Strong has some good news on the status of his friend and former ally Kyle O’Reilly.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Roderick Strong recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. When asked about doing more character work in 2023 than he typically does, Strong revealed it was due to him coming back from a neck injury.

“Yeah, I mean, obviously, I was coming back from a neck injury, and then there was the one instance I landed on my head with Action Andretti. But yeah, that was a hard thing,” Roderick Strong admitted. “Obviously, at first, because I’m like, ‘Ahh, I want to wrestle.’ I haven’t not wrestled for that long prior to that.

“But then, as time went on, just how necessary it was. And the opportunity of growing and actually becoming a character. Not being me and trying to be me,” he added. “Because I said this in another interview, that just comes with a lot of things that I didn’t think about when everyone’s like, I just want to be myself out there, then you like yeah, all the insecurities come out when you’re out there from myself.

“The ‘Neck Strong’ Roderick Strong does not have the same insecurities. He just wants his best friend; he’s upset. It’s just a whole different thing. So it gave me such a great chance to tap into that and gear myself up and be ready to have what I feel like will be the best run of my career coming up.”

Later in the interview, when asked for an update on his friend Kyle O’Reilly, Strong said he’s doing great and believes he’ll be back sooner than later.

“He’s doing great,” Roderick Strong said. “I think it’s just a matter of getting in the right headspace and training and just building that confidence back up. But I think he’ll be back sooner than later. I mean, hopefully, before the summer. That’d be awesome.”

Kyle O’Reilly is currently sidelined with a neck injury. He has not wrestled since losing an AEW Interim World Title #1 Contendership to Jon Moxley on June 8, 2022.
