Nick Khan: Bad Bunny Set the Bar for Celebrity Wrestlers

Many stars outside the realm of professional wrestling sometimes would like to make an appearance during a wrestling show. Stars such as Snoop Dogg, Travis Scott, and many more celebrities have made an appearance in WWE and other wrestling promotions. Recently, WWE President Nick Khan shared that Hip Hop star Bad Bunny set the bar for celebrity wrestlers.

There used to be a common belief that when celebrities had matches, it was mostly to help WWE reach a larger audience. But when it comes to the celebrities, they will have a very small role and perform the safest spots. But then, at WrestleMania 37, when Bad Bunny had a tag team match, he shocked the fans with his performance. Bad Bunny had teamed with Damian Priest to wrestle the team of The Miz and John Morrison. It was one of the match that stole the show.

Recently, while speaking on The Ankler’s Business of Entertainment program at NAB Show, Nick Khan shared that Bad Bunny worked hard and did even more than he was asked to do. Khan was convinced that Bad Bunny’s performance had set the bar for the future.

“We think Bad Bunny set a new bar in terms of celebrities who want to come into wrestling. That guy put in the work. If you saw his match or remember his match, he did everything asked of him and beyond. He was early, showed up, set a new bar for us where everyone else who comes into it is expected to be held up to that standard. To their credit, they have been.” [H/T Fightful]

Nick Khan shared that Bad Bunny has watched his WrestleMania debut over 50 times

Nick Khan also shared that a few months after WrestleMania 37, he had bumped into Bad Bunny at a different event and both discussed Bunny’s performance in that match.

“I ran into Bad Bunny at some unrelated sporting event after he did the match with us and the first thing he said to me was, ‘Brother, I’ve watched my match 50 times. I still can’t believe you guys let me do it.’ I said to him, ‘We can believe you did it to the level you did.’ That match was incredible,” Nick Khan said. [H/T Fightful]

Bad Bunny has also competed in the Royal Rumble PLE and had a singles match at WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico.
