MLW’s Court Bauer Wants To Host A Wrestling Event On A River Barge

Court Bauer says he’s always wanted to host an MLW event on a river barge.

Wrestling promotions are no strangers to choosing unique venues for their events. The first WCW Nitro went down at the Mall of America. WWE once brought Shotgun Saturday Night to Penn Station, where The Undertaker spiked Triple H with a Tombstone Piledriver on an escalator.

Major League Wrestling is another promotion known for its cool setups. The founder and owner, Court Bauer, recently appeared on Fightful Overbooked’s In The Weeds podcast to hype up tonight’s live special in collaboration with Don Gato Tequila.

During the interview, hosts Joel Pearl and Jeremy Lambert told Bauer about the “Ring of Hallucinations” bit they do on their show, where they book wacky ideas with MLW talent. Court then revealed that he’s always wanted to do a show on the water — specifically on a river barge.

“I’ve always wanted to do a wrestling show on the Hudson River or down here on the Cooper River — on a barge, he said. “I just thought of it because I saw a picture… someone had done it in like 1920 or something, and it just looked insane. People are swimming, they’re falling off, and I know Japan did something like that once.

“I was like, we’ve got to bring that to America, man. We’ve got to bring that back. You know, whirlpools and tides and currents and pollution aside, I think it’s an idea worthy of maybe your promotion. It sounds like a nice summer-themed event.”
