Triple H Facing Internal Criticism As WWE Changes WrestleMania 42 Plans — Report

Plans for WrestleMania 42 remain in flux, and a new report suggests the constant creative shifts have led to internal criticism of Triple H.

With the event set for April in Las Vegas, only one match appears locked. The rest of the card keeps getting tweaked and revamped.

According to Dave Meltzer (of F4WOnline.com) on Wrestling Observer Radio, there has been “a lot of internal criticism” directed at Paul Levesque over repeated changes to WrestleMania plans.

Meltzer noted that WWE had a “complete card” mapped out before the Royal Rumble. However, those plans have changed multiple times. As he put it, “They have a plan, and then they change the plan,” leaving “everything up in the air.”

Why WWE Is Reworking WrestleMania 42 Plans?

One factor believed to be driving the shakeups is ticket sales. WrestleMania 42 has reportedly sold around 74,000 tickets across two nights so far. In comparison, at the same point last year, roughly 89,000 were sold.

While far from a disaster — WrestleMania rarely taps out early — the slower pace has raised eyebrows backstage and added pressure to creative.

Several rumored matches have already been scrapped. A third bout between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns was once discussed, as was Bron Breakker winning the Royal Rumble and facing CM Punk.

Even a teased Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre match for the Undisputed WWE Championship doesn’t look like a sure thing with Jacob Fatu potentially entering the picture.

Injury issues have also complicated matters. Seth Rollins’ shoulder injury and Breakker’s hernia surgery have forced adjustments, shortening WWE’s creative runway before Elimination Chamber on Feb. 28. That’s made locking the card feel less like long-term booking and more like calling an audible.

Despite the uncertainty, WrestleMania 42 is still expected to be a financial win, helped by Las Vegas hosting fees. Still, this marks the first real stress test of Triple H’s creative era. For now, only CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns is standing tall while the rest of the card waits for the final bell.
