What are Finn Bálor’s chances of capturing the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber? Never say never.
Bálor is set to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship. The last time they met, it didn’t end well for him. He lost to Punk in his home country of Ireland. That loss clearly stayed with him, so he snapped and attacked Punk. Balor was focused on getting that rematch, this time in Chicago at WWE Elimination Chamber.
Most fans assumed this match was just filler or a stepping stone before Punk heads to WrestleMania 42 to face Roman Reigns. However, recent comments suggest something bigger could be in the works.
During a recent “Fightful Select Answers Q&A,” Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful was asked if there is a real chance Bálor walks out as champion at WWE Elimination Chamber. Sapp said he believes that possibility is real, noting how much time there is between Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 42 in April.
“Yeah, I actually think there is. I spoke about this on the Raw post show. There’s a lot of time left between now and WrestleMania, and I actually think a real wrinkle could be that Roman Reigns made this world championship match, and is locked into it because the contract is signed. CM Punk would need to win the world championship back in time for WrestleMania to make sure it happens. I think there’s an actual possibility.”
The latest update could make Punk’s road to WrestleMania 42 more exciting. Finn Bálor has not won a major world title since 2016. He has waited nearly a decade for another big moment. If the prediction is true, he could finally win the championship again. That would be a huge shift before WrestleMania 42, however, only time will tell what happens next.
