Triple H Reacts To Brock Lesnar Retiring at WWE WrestleMania 42

Triple H says Brock Lesnar didn’t indicate he planned to retire after his WrestleMania 42 match.

Oba Femi shocked the wrestling world when he defeated Brock Lesnar in the opening match of night two at WrestleMania 42. Lesnar made even more headlines after leaving his boots and gloves in the ring, a sign that he intends to retire.

Triple H appeared on the ESPN WrestleMania 42 post-show, where he addressed Lesnar’s future in the ring. The WWE CCO said it certainly seems like Lesnar is done, but it was not a decision that they had discussed before or after the match.

“Well, it certainly seemed that way,” Triple H said. “Brock is not a walk back through the curtain and have a long conversation guy. Brock is a walk back through the curtain, very angry, and go to his bus and that is the end of it. So, there was not a discussion had after. I will say this, probably the most famous combat sport athlete of our generation. [He’s] one of a kind, nobody like Brock Lesnar. But the one thing nobody gives him credit for is the intelligence of a fighter.”

Triple H believes Brock Lesnar made his decision in the ring

Triple H said Lesnar is seen as a “hulking brute” or the Beast, but there’s a point in time where someone bigger and badder comes along. He added that the smart ones know when to call it a day, and believes that’s what Brock did on Sunday night.

“I don’t think that was a planned thing. I think Brock went to the ring, he walked into a wall called Oba Femi. Brock walked up to the Next Big Thing and ran into a brick wall. The intelligence in him said, ‘Maybe I should call it a day.’ He took his boots off and put his gloves down and he walked away. That is not a statement of Brock being afraid of it. That is an intelligent man meeting something that cannot be stopped.”

Triple H said Lesnar’s actions speak just as much about Oba Femi as they do for Lesnar himself.

Lesnar was reportedly planning to retire after SummerSlam, which takes place in Minneapolis in August. However, unless Sunday night was only a WrestleMania farewell, it looks like Brock’s last match was in Las Vegas.

As for Oba Femi, he looked towards the future as he called out Roman Reigns during the WrestleMania 42 post-show.
