Blake Monroe recently opened up about the possibility of Asuka retiring, and how heartbroken she would be over it for one big reason.
During a recent interview with Vicente Beltrán, Monroe briefly brought up the wrestling legend. Rumors have circulated that Asuka could be ready to leave the world of wrestling. Amid the exit rumors, Asuka had an emotional segment with IYO Sky on a recent episode of RAW, and left the arena with her suitcase.
Michael Cole then mentioned on commentary that her future is “up in the air” and that “She appeared to say goodbye tonight, but who knows.” To Monroe, it would be heartbreaking, as she’s hoping to have at least one match with the woman she’s grown up idolizing in the ring.
“So Asuka, to me, is one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world,” said Monroe. “And I remember watching her after she won the [Royal] Rumble wrestling Charlotte Flair, thinking ‘Wow, she’s something special,’ and I feel like she came to WWE and she elevated the NXT women’s locker room, she elevated the main roster, locker room too.
“I don’t know where her heart is, what her decision is, but I would love to wrestle her one day, so for me, I’m kind of heartbroken if this is it, but I also respect her and what a career she’s had, so…she’s amazing.”
