Dwayne Johnson has pulled back the curtain on one of the wildest moments from Netflix’s celebrity roast circuit, sharing backstage footage from his headline-grabbing appearance at The Roast of Kevin Hart.
The WWE legend turned Hollywood megastar gave fans a closer look at the atmosphere before he unleashed an R-rated promo that quickly became one of the event’s most talked-about moments.
Johnson posted the behind-the-scenes clips to Instagram, showing himself arriving at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum carrying a prop sword while describing the night as “flow state energy.”
In true Final Boss fashion, he joked backstage that “heads are coming off” before stepping through pyrotechnics and onto the stage.
The Rock’s roast of Kevin Hart quickly went off the rails
Once the microphone was in his hand, Johnson completely ditched his usual family-friendly image. He immediately targeted longtime friend Kevin Hart with jokes about his height, calling him a “little burnt Oompa Loompa” and a “little chocolate baby bird.”
The roast became even more chaotic when Johnson shifted focus toward Hart’s wife, Eniko. “She deserves an Academy Award for pretending she likes to f*** you,” Johnson joked, later teasing Hart about sharing tequila with her while he watched from the sidelines.
Hart fired back during the exchange, asking, “Why would you say that about my f wife? I want to talk to you later.” Johnson quickly reminded him, “You’re the one who said, ‘Say anything you want!’”
The former WWE Champion also leaned heavily into his wrestling roots during the set. At one point, he walked directly toward Hart’s seat and delivered an over-the-top verbal barrage that felt closer to an Attitude Era segment than a Hollywood awards show.
Not all of the material landed cleanly with viewers, however. Johnson faced online backlash after using the “R-word” slur while joking about NBA player Draymond Green.
Even so, Johnson ended the night on a heartfelt note, posting afterward: “Keep bringing joy to the world… love U and always got your back my brother!”
