AEW Star to Replace MJF at Upcoming Event After Injury Update

A significant change has been made to Beyond Wrestling’s upcoming “Break The Walls Down” event after an injury update sidelined one of the promotion’s originally advertised headliners.

MJF had been scheduled to face Bobby Orlando on the June 5 card in Cranston, Rhode Island.

However, following events on this week’s AEW Dynamite, those plans became subject to change. This created a last-minute opening that Beyond Wrestling quickly moved to fill.

Andrade El Idolo steps in after MJF injury setback

According to Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Andrade El Idolo will replace MJF. He makes his Beyond Wrestling debut against Orlando at the event.

The change comes after MJF reportedly suffered a hyperextended knee during his AEW World Championship match against RUSH on the June 4 episode of Dynamite.

As a result, the reigning AEW World Champion did not receive medical clearance to compete or travel. This left Beyond Wrestling searching for a replacement on short notice.

Fortunately for the promotion, Andrade answered the call.

The AEW and NJPW star, who currently holds the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship, will now step into a match that suddenly carries a very different flavor.

While fans won’t witness the originally advertised showdown, they’ll still see a major international star make his first appearance for the company.

Beyond Wrestling founder Drew Cordeiro detailed the effort required to save the card.

“I’ve spent the last 20 hours calling everyone I know, and I can’t thank the wrestlers at AEW enough for going above and beyond and checking virtually everyone’s availability to make this happen on such short notice,” Cordeiro said.

He also noted that Andrade, Lio Rush, and Wheeler YUTA were added to the event within hours. Moreover, he revealed that talent and management from several promotions helped explore options wholeheartedly.

With Andrade now officially stepping into the spot, Beyond Wrestling’s “Break The Walls Down” event remains intact despite losing one of its biggest advertised attractions. The event will stream live on IWTV from Rhodes On The Pawtuxet on June 5.
