Former WWE star Alba Fyre has already returned to wrestling under her original name, Kay Lee Ray, less than two months after her WWE release.
Kay Lee Ray’s comeback comes a few weeks after WWE released her on April 24 as part of its post-WrestleMania roster cuts. Her exit ended a seven-year run with the company that included time in NXT UK, NXT, and WWE’s main roster.
Although she won quite a few championships during her WWE career, many fans felt she was never fully utilized on TV. In her final months, she was mainly featured as part of Chelsea Green’s Secret HERvice group on SmackDown.
Her final televised SmackDown match took place in February 2026 against Tiffany Stratton. Her last match was against Tatum Paxley in April 2026 at a WWE World event.
Kay Lee Ray returns home to Pro Wrestling EVE
Ray made a surprise appearance at Pro Wrestling EVE 150 in London on June 5. She answered an open challenge from Molly Spartan and competed in her first match since being released from WWE.
Pro Wrestling EVE had been teasing a big surprise throughout the week, leading many fans to believe Kay Lee Ray could be returning. Even so, the promotion managed to keep fans guessing until the last moment.
During Molly Spartan’s open challenge, fans were intially tricked when Abi Cartwright appeared using the name “Abi Fyre.” The fake-out made some people think the teased return wouldn’t be Kay Lee Ray after all.
But a few moments later, Ray made her surprise entrance under the name that helped make her a star on the independent scene. The crowd welcomed her as well.
The match didn’t last long. Ray defeated Spartan with her trademark Swanton to pick up the win.
The EVE commentary team made it clear how important her return was to the promotion.
“Anyone who is anyone in women’s professional wrestling has stepped through those ropes. “Legends, pioneers, women in the beginning of their careers, women making a name for themselves, nobody has ever personified Pro Wrestling Eve more than Kay Lee F***ing Ray…and she is back home,” commentary said.
Will Ospreay, who is closely involved with EVE, also shared footage of the crowd’s huge reaction to her return.
