Gail Kim Admits Released TNA Personality Would’ve Been Great in Creative Role

Sami Callihan’s exit is just the latest in a string of departures from TNA, and former TNA executive Gail Kim believes the company may have missed out on a valuable asset for a creative role by letting him go.

Callihan confirmed on Wednesday that he had parted ways with TNA as part of the company’s recent “workforce reduction.” The news came after reports surfaced about several backstage and office changes ahead of Slammiversary.

Wirh a post on X, Callihan revealed that he was expecting a very different conversation with TNA.

“Thought I was getting called today to be offered a position in creative… nope. I’ve parted ways with TNA. Oh well… onward to the next adventure,” he wrote.

Callihan’s post caught attention across the wrestling world, including a response from Knockouts legend Gail Kim.

Kim, who left the company during a major restructuring in 2025, had nothing but praise for Callihan’s creative mind.

“You actually would’ve been a great contribution to the creative team. Any creative team really,” Kim replied to Callihan’s tweet.

According to reports, Callihan was highly respected backstage by both wrestlers and management. Several members of the roster reportedly pushed for months to get him involved with the creative team because of his ideas and understanding of the wrestling business.

While most fans know Callihan for his work in the ring, he had already started taking on more backstage responsibilities after stepping away from active competition. His last match came in August 2024, when he lost a Baltimore Street Fight to Mike Santana.

Since then, he had been working as a producer and agent while also helping with TNA’s marketing efforts. He reportedly played a massive role in creating and designing much of the company’s merchandise over the past year.
