Report: Vince McMahon Made The Decision On Shane McMahon’s WWE Departure

More details have emerged regarding Shane McMahon‘s departure from WWE.

McMahon parted ways with the company in February after the chaotic WWE Royal Rumble event upset many members of the roster, aside from his own involvement. However, Shane took the fall for the situation; he reportedly tried to make many changes to the Royal Rumble match, which became a point of tension for several WWE Superstars, including Brock Lesnar. Specifically, confusion surrounding Shane’s entrance in the match led to him coming to the ring when it was Randy Orton’s turn, among other issues.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that Vince McMahon made the call to remove Shane from the company, with sources noting that Vince stated that Shane “would never get another pop in this company as long as I’m around.” This same source noted that they believed that message was sent in the heat of the moment, so it wouldn’t necessarily stick, and that Vince’s frustration was “extreme, but justified.” Additionally, it was said that Lesnar being upset somewhat due to Shane’s actions in the Royal Rumble match was the last straw.

Shane hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since the Royal Rumble match. He was previously scheduled for WWE Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 38, but these plans were nixed once the company cut ties with him.

Vince McMahon recently announced his retirement. More information is available here.
