Ric Flair isn’t mincing words.
WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair always finds a way to land in controversy. His comments regarding Hulk Hogan’s death left the internet stunned. Flair initially blamed “street drugs” for Hogan’s death, even going as far as saying he was simply reiterating what was “common knowledge” in the Hulkster’s family.
After Hogan’s widow, Sky Daily, reacted to Flair’s remarks, the Nature Boy walked the statement back and claimed he had received bad information. It was all too late, as Flair received a lot of flak from fans and pro wrestlers alike.
Wrestler and promoter Devon Nicholson (aka Hannibal) called out the former World Champion for sharing the story in the first place. Hannibal said Ric Flair has a history of playing up stories for personal gain and lying for attention.
Ric Flair reacts to Hannibal’s comments
Flair has since responded to Hannibal’s comments. In a message on social media, Slick Rick took a shot at Nicholson’s pro wrestling career. He also attached what he claimed was a message from a fan about the pro wrestling world’s general perception of Hannibal.
“I’m Sorry Hannibal Or Whatever The F Your Name Is Because No One Cares And No One Ever Will. Someone Sent Me This, And I Thought I Would Give You A Clue About How You’re Perceived By The General Public. These Are Not My Words, These Are Comments About Your Laughable Opportunity To Be Anything But Full Of Sh*t. I Actually Have More Information, But I’ll Save You From The Embarrassment. Have A Great Weekend; Hope You’re Watching Football Like I Am. FYI- 2,000 Followers, You’re Such A Stud!”
Nicholson gained notoriety for going off-script and stabbing a referee with a spike during a December 2021 World Class Pro Wrestling event in Texas. The referee, Lando Deltoro (real name Pablo Fraga), required seven staples and emergency surgery to repair a severed artery in his head.
Hannibal also accused Abdullah The Butcher of giving him hepatitis C during a match. Nicholson claimed he was offered a contract by WWE in 2009 after multiple tryouts, but the company pulled the offer due to the hepatitis diagnosis. He stated he was cured of the disease in 2013 and later resumed his in-ring career. Nicholson eventually sued Abdullah and won.
