AJ Francis Reacts to Rumors Road Dogg is Joining TNA

AJ Francis reacts to the rumors of Road Dogg joining TNA.

Following the exit of TNA Head of Creative Tommy Dreamer, reports suggested that TNA Wrestling had internally considered former WWE co-lead writer of WWE SmackDown Brian “Road Dogg” James as a potential replacement.

If true, TNA star AJ Francis would be more than happy to see James come aboard.

“I have no idea who the new head of creative is going to be, I don’t know. I be talking to [TNA President] Carlos [Silva], but I don’t be in them executive meetings. So I can’t even sit here and pretend that I know who’s going to be. But I seen rumors that it’s supposed to be apparently Road Dogg. And if that’s the case, that would be cool because I have a pre-existing relationship with him when I was in WWE,” Francis told No-Contest Wrestling.

“He loved Hit Row. He was one of the main proponents pushing Hit Row. So if it happens to be Road Dogg, that’d be dope. I mean, I reached out to Road Dogg as soon as I found out he was leaving WWE because I wanted him to come to TNA. I actually reached out to Carlos and asked him had he talked to Road Dogg. This is like months ago. I really don’t know what the situation is, but if that is the case, that could be cool. That could be very cool.

James departed from WWE and its creative department in March after feeling he had no purpose in the company. James subsequently indicated that he wanted to make a difference elsewhere, even if it meant making less money.

Road Dogg Expected For TNA Slammiversary

Days after AJ Francis’ interview dropped, a new report from PWInsider noted that James is now expected to be in attendance at TNA Slammiversary, set for June 28 in Boston. Furthermore, a deal between James and TNA is said to be near complete.

Initially, TNA officials pitched the idea of James joining the promotion as a backstage producer. Given Dreamer’s recent exit, however, a possible spot on the TNA creative team has also reportedly been entertained for the former WWE figure.
